Release of ocelots in Guatavita

Habitat selection is a key aspect of animal activity. Knowledge of the optimal conditions in which a species prefers to live allows for better management and mitigation of the threats it faces. This book presents a study carried out in the province of Madrid (Spain), in which the importance of different habitat, feeding and human infrastructure variables is evaluated for two carnivore species: the wildcat (Felis silvestris) and the fox (Vulpes vulpes). After an introduction to the problem of habitat conservation and the biology of both species, the objectives and hypotheses on which the study is based are presented. This is followed by a detailed description of the methodology used and the results obtained, as well as a discussion of the interpretation of these results and their consequences. This is a pioneering study for the province, and is of great interest to all specialists in ecology and animal behavior, and to those interested in conservation and in the knowledge of species biology.
